The Thule Vertex bike carriers are an extremely popular style of bike carrier for your car. They are American made units with a tough, heavy duty design. They are supplied ready to fit into a 50 mm square socket found on a hitch style towball. The '-40' versions listed above also come with a smaller 40mm sleeve which can be used to enable fitting to an intermediate rated towbar with a 40mm square hitch receiver opening. The Vertex bike rack is secured in place with a few turns of the supplied spanner to firmly bolt them in place. Alternatively the Snug-Tite lock can be added for piece of mind if you leave the carrier attached while away from the vehicle.
The bikes are held in soft cradles and a restraining strap stops your bikes swinging around as well as anti-sway cradles which can be used for additional restraint.
To gain access to the rear of the vehicle these carriers have a very simple and easy to use tilt mechanism.
